Most people think burnout is simply the result of working too much. Get more sleep, take a vacation, and everything will go back to normal. But for many women, the problem runs much deeper.
That was one of the biggest takeaways from Sam Tejada, CEO and Founder of Liquivida®‘s conversation with Kymber and Alexis Naven on A Healthy Point of View. The twin sisters, founders of The Naven Method, shared how their journey from the fashion industry to the wellness world was driven by their own health struggles, not a business plan.
Why Women Are Burnt Out, Inflamed, And Hormone Imbalanced | The Naven Twins | Ep. 151

A Foundation Built on Health and Athletics
Long before they were known for peptides, biohacking, and women’s wellness, the sisters were athletes growing up in Vancouver. Their father was a professional heavyweight boxer, and fitness was simply part of everyday life.
They spent their childhoods playing soccer, swimming, skiing, hiking, and competing in multiple sports. Looking back, they realized they were practicing many wellness habits before they even knew what “biohacking” was. They were outside constantly, exposed to sunlight, grounded in nature, and eating mostly whole foods.
That foundation became important later in life when their health began to decline.
Building a Fashion Empire
After moving to Los Angeles, Kymber pursued fashion design while Alexis focused on the business side. Together, they launched their clothing brand, Navin, from their Beverly Hills apartment with a modest investment.
What started as a small project eventually grew into a company doing roughly $20 million in sales, with dozens of employees, showrooms, and partnerships with major retailers, including Revolve.
From the outside, it looked glamorous. Behind the scenes, it was relentless.
The Moment Burnout Became Impossible to Ignore
The sisters described spending years working late nights, traveling, attending events, managing teams, and then showing up early the next morning to do it all again.
By their mid-30s, both of them hit a wall.
Kymber explained that she woke up every day feeling exhausted, inflamed, and depressed. Her body ached, her energy disappeared, and she no longer felt like herself. Alexis said many women describe the experience the same way: a gradual loss of motivation, joy, and vitality.
One phrase from the conversation stood out:
“Wired but tired.”
That feeling of being unable to relax while also being completely depleted had become their new normal.
Recovery Changed Everything
As lifelong athletes, they knew how to push themselves. What they didn’t know was how to recover.
They began focusing on sleep, stress management, nutrition, nervous system regulation, and recovery practices such as meditation, yoga, sauna therapy, and other wellness modalities. Instead of treating rest as a luxury, they started treating it as a requirement.
That shift ultimately led them away from the fashion industry and into the wellness space.
Discovering Peptides
The sisters were introduced to peptides through functional medicine practitioners more than a decade ago. At the time, peptides were nowhere near as mainstream as they are today.
Kymber was dealing with significant inflammation and mold toxicity, while Alexis later faced a serious health crisis involving sepsis after surgery. In both cases, peptides became part of a broader healing strategy that included nutrition, detoxification, and lifestyle changes.
They emphasized that their initial interest in peptides had nothing to do with weight loss. The focus was on reducing inflammation, supporting immune health, and accelerating recovery.
Why Women Need Better Hormone Education
A major portion of the conversation focused on women’s hormones and the lack of education many women receive about their own bodies.
The sisters explained that many women begin experiencing hormonal changes in their 30s, long before menopause. Common symptoms include:
- Persistent fatigue
- Irritability and mood swings
- Poor sleep
- Low libido
- Weight gain and bloating
- Anxiety
- The feeling that “I don’t feel like myself anymore”
Too often, women are told these symptoms are simply part of aging.
The Naven Twins strongly disagree with that approach.
A More Personalized Approach to Wellness
Rather than accepting chronic fatigue and hormonal imbalance as inevitable, they encourage women to understand their bodies, track their symptoms, prioritize recovery, and seek personalized care.
They believe the foundation still comes back to basics:
- Whole-food nutrition
- Healthy fats
- Regular movement
- Quality sleep
- Stress management
- Nervous system support
- Targeted supplementation when appropriate
The Bigger Mission
Today, the sisters have dedicated their work to helping women navigate the very challenges they once struggled with themselves.
What began as a personal search for answers has grown into a mission to make wellness education, hormone support, and modern recovery tools more accessible to women everywhere.
And perhaps the most important message from the conversation was this: feeling exhausted, inflamed, irritable, and disconnected from yourself should not be accepted as the price of getting older.
For many women, it may simply be a sign that the body is asking for a different approach.
